Climate Cymru : Ambassador

Updated: Jul 29, 2021

I recently joined Climate Cymru as an Ambassador . I wanted to protect our environment here in Wales for future generations. Climate Cymru is an inclusive campaign which puts Welsh voices at the heart of everything it aims to achieve.

We all know that Wales is a fantastic place to live and work, but the ongoing nature and climate crisis has a knock-on effect on how we will live our lives in the future.

The goal is to take 50,000 voices to the Senedd before the UN Climate Talks in Glasgow. This will represent what Wales really has to say.

Here is a bit more information if you would like to get involved...

What is Climate Cymru?

Climate Cymru is a campaign which aims to gather voices from across Wales and take them to the Senedd before COP26.

Our aim is to take people’s views to the leaders of Wales, by gathering everyone’s thoughts on why protecting Wales in the nature and climate crisis is important to them.

Once we reach 50,000 voices, we can apply democratic pressure on the Welsh and UK Government to make meaningful, evidence-based, and fair commitments at the UN Climate Talks.

We want to make real change happen, and it starts with engaging with diverse, Welsh communities and taking these to the Senedd.

Why should you get involved?

The people of Wales own this message – it is not from one person alone! The discussions which will take place at the UN Climate Talks will have a huge impact on the future of Wales.

It is important to reach as many people as we can before COP26 takes place, so we can show our elected representatives what matters to us. From woodland, grassland to oceans - Wales has so much to offer, but the ongoing climate emergency threatens nature and wildlife, and how we may live our lives in the future.

Wales is made up of so many fantastic communities. This inclusive campaign is the perfect way to add your voice and speak up.

What difference will it really make?

This campaign has already gained momentum and caught the eye of influential leaders in Wales. We have the opportunity to potentially shape legislation and focus government funding into sustainable environmental projects.

What are we doing?

We're also:

  • Influencing leaders: taking an active part in conversations around climate and nature and demonstrating public support for action.

  • Contributing to raising the profile of COP26 and building momentum for climate action globally: A part of a much larger movement, build-up, during and after COP26, digitally and physically.

  • Inspiring and educating the people of Wales: Bringing these issues back up the agenda and into a priority for the wider population.

Our partners

One of our leading achievements is having built connections with more than 130 cross-sector climate conscious organisations, and receiving diverse engagement from people from all backgrounds and political parties.

Many Welsh organisations support the campaign such as WWF Cymru, Oxfam Cymru, RSPB Cymru and Friends of the Earth Cymru.
